UviewIt.com - Motion Detection Software
GETTING STARTED

Welcome to uViewIt's pictorial presentation!!
Below are screenshots of uViewIt's basic features:

When you first start uViewIt you will see the above screen.
The Dropdown Options are: File, Command, Camera, View, and Help. One of the most important features to get you started is the Context Help. If you select the button that has the arrow and question mark (on the far right) and then click on any menu button or text box, you will see a help dialog about that item.

Underneath the Dropdown Options are QUICK BUTTONS:
Start, Stop, Configuration, Timed Zones, Video Compression,
Video Format, Cameras 1-4, Print, About, and Help.

File
The Only field available under File is EXIT. Use this to exit uViewIt.

Command
"Start" starts your Camera(s) recording.

Configuration
Control Settings

CAMERAS - Number of Cameras, adjust this number to the number of cameras that you have.
COM PORT - This is where you plug in certain Cameras or our Camera Switch if you have more than one camera. Change this number to indicate the number of Com Ports your system has.
REMOTE VIEWING - Check this box if you want to be able to view and review history from remote locations. Automatic goes thru firewalls, and Manual would need advanced configuration to do this.
LISTEN ON PORT - Default port number is 49330. Change this number if you use Remote Viewer to make the Host and Remote Viewer use the same port number on the Network Router.
SET PASSWORD - Create a Password for your Remote Viewing sessions. This security feature protects your Images from being viewed by others.

Video Settings

Images and Video Directory - C:\Program Files\uViewIt Corporation\uViewIt\CaptureData is the Default directory. You may change this to another location if you wish. This is where your Images and Videos will be stored.
Take [number] snapshots before rollover – This number indicates the total number of STILL Images that will be taken before uViewIt starts over-writing the History. Default is 6000 images.
Reset – This will set the snapshot count back to 1.

Timed Zones
Enter the in Military format (18:00 = 6pm) Hour you would like to have the Camera record activity. PRESS NEXT if you have more than one camera to set the begin and end times of each additional camera. Press OK when finished. (NOTE: Camera must be turned on first)

Video Compression Codecs
(YOU MUST SELECT ONE)
Choose Video Compression by selecting from list. What this feature does is compress all activity recording to reduce the disk space used. If you are not sure of what compression to pick, it will not damage anything to try assigning one at a time, test by recording activity and reviewing the file. Look at the details of the file and compare the file size. Look for a compression that gives you a good Quality and small file size. You may also select Custom Windows Media Profiles to create .wmv video files instead of .avi files.

Video Device
Shows you what Camera or Video Capture Card is attached to you system. In our example above, we have one Intel PC Camera and a Pinnicale TV Video Capture Card. In situations like this, you would need to select the CAMERA not the TV card.

Properties

Video Format - Default is NONE. Capture device from video capture card(s)
Frame Rate - Default is 30 frames per second. Recommend not changing this if you have a slow system make smaller. Some cam drivers do not let you adjust this setting.
Flip Horizontal - only experts should use this mode
Color Space / Compression - Default should be RGB24, but YUY2 is also a good choice, then I420.
Output Size - Default is 320 x 240. Change this when you want to have the Viewing Window larger. Note: When you increase this window you also increase the Image Captured onto disk, and requires more cpu resources to create the video.

Video Setting
The Menu that appears at this point will come from the Camera Manufacturer, not uViewIt. Each menu will be different. Consult your camera documentation.

Camera
This is where you select your Camera(s), and turn on/off Motion Detection, Time-Lapse, and Still image settings.

Here uViewIt is shown with the Timed Zones/Masking and Camera 1 Settings menus open at the same time. This allows you to adjust both while viewing live motion video from your camera. (click to enlarge)

You can set Zone Masking and Motion Sensitivity at the same time.

View
"Toolbar"
Check this to view the Toolbar. Uncheck to remove from window.
"Status Bar"
Check this to view the Status Bar. Uncheck to remove from the window.
