Video compression is a critical
element (along with motion detection) that makes PC based surveillance possible.
Optimum video compression balances quality and size to deliver clear, yet
manageable images.
Click the VIDEO COMPRESSION
button to select from over 20 video compression types (codecs).
uViewIt now defaults to Microsoft's Windows Media Video 9 codec because we feel it offers the
best quality across the bandwidth spectrum, and is compatible with most players.
WMV9 is designed to
deliver decent quality video at low data rates and small file sizes,
optimized for viewing locally or over the Internet and is configurable.
For audio, the MPEG 3 codec is used.
uViewIt stores WMV9 video and audio in files with the .avi extension.
Also, you can use Windows Media Profiles to customize your video/audio files
using the WM9, or newer codecs. For these, video/audio are stored in files with the .wmv
extension.
